Purchase your deck and outdoor furniture in August. By the time August rolls around, most people are not looking to purchase outdoor furniture because Fall and the colder weather is just around the corner. If you purchase your outdoor furniture at this time when stores are discounting it, you’ll have new furniture for the following Summer when others are shopping for it and paying the higher prices.

A bookshelf. Not all dorm rooms come with a place to put all of your textbooks. But when choosing a bookshelf, think small. Again this is a compact space and you don’t want furniture warehouse in your way. Get creative too, like square boxes. They work great for storage too.

Blinds have a whole category and there are so many choices. Some are basic and some come in elegant styles. The more popular styles are Venetian and vertical. You can use them if you like techno or modern style rooms. Many people like them for the bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. Blinds are affordable, convenient and easy to put up.

Whether you’re using online classifieds’ sites like Craigslist or cruising garage sales in high-end neighborhoods, used furniture is extremely affordable. Look for pieces that are, above all else, clean and well-maintained.

Avoid furniture designs and finishes that are excessively trendy if you’re spending the money to buy furniture that’s going to last a long time. Frivolous accessories are more easily replaced than furniture that has quickly dated.

Think what the room’s purpose is when decorating it. Determine the number of people that will be using the room simultaneously and what activities will be taking place. Also consider your family and frequent visitors when decorating your front room, but when designing bedrooms, consider the person the room will belong to.

Next, look at stuff you can donate. Think never used now toys, gently worn clothes, along those lines. But remember that just because you donate it and people less off than you are possibly wanting it, don’t leave crap at the drop-off station.

A mini-fridge. Many colleges already offer these either for free or be rented for a small fee. They are definitely worth investing in or buying. It is really nice to be able to have beverages on hand. It is also cheaper in the long run if you can by drinks at the store instead of the vending machines in the lobby.
