You need a room or part of a room which has warm or cool colours, good lighting, fresh air and ideally a view out of a window which will stimulate you when you need to look away from your workstation.
You can also recreate a design you saw from a magazine. It is a difficult task to recreate something done by a professional. However, you do not have to copy everything on the page. Find a different shade for your wall, reupholsters your couch, and shop for different accessories. Although the design is not exact, the room will look better if you adopted the color scheme you see in the magazine.

A lamp. Whether it is a desk lamp, a floor lamp or both. Your dorm room usually is provided with fluorescent lighting. That is not so great on the eyes. So get a few lights and that will help light up your room, and help you study.
Are your walls bright orange? You want to make sure that your home has neutral colors that will not scare the potential buyer. Not everyone like neon colored walls. And if your walls are dirty, wipe them down.
